Sandbank Primary School visit, Dunoon

I was recently asked to attend Sandbank Primary School in Dunoon to talk to the whole school as part of their health week. Dunoon is a traditional holiday destination for people in Scotland and has an ever growing mountain bike scene. In fact I raced a round of the Scottish Enduro Series in Dunoon last year. I also spoke at Dunoon Grammar school as part of a Walk A Mile event organised by SAMH and See Me Scotland last year too, promoting positive mental health awareness.

My talk at Sandbank Primary followed the aims and objectives of the Winning Scotland Foundation's Champions In Scotland programme. The message we aim to convey is that success comes through persistent hard work and though learning from failure. In this instance I talk about my experiences in qualifying for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, coming up short for Glasgow 2014 and my journey of learning to backflip!

I had a brilliant time speaking to the pupils and staff in Dunoon and can't wait to return again soon, most likely to ride the Cowal Way Chase gravel race.

If you would like me to talk at your school, club or workplace, then please get in touch via my Champions In Scotland profile.

Thanks for reading.

Over and out.
