Coming Back In Time To Go Off-Grid

It's been a long time since my last post. We're half way through the year and so much has already happened. I've been riding bikes a lot. One of the highlights was an amazing trip to Gran Canaria which was unfortunately followed by a stint of illness with glandular fever. Work has been crazy. Glasgow Go-Ride has been constantly gathering pace and I was in Mexico earlier this year working for the UCI too. In just under two weeks I'll be back working with them at their HQ in Sw

Catching Up On The Last 4 Weeks!

It's been almost a month since I last checked in so I figured I'd bring you up to speed with what's been happening! It's been a roller coaster of a month with some highs and lows. However, it's going to be an awesome year of riding bikes and getting outside. So here goes nothin'... Mo Cross Super Quaich Mo Cross was round 2 of the Super Quaich cyclocross series and it took place in Montrose on the 16th of December. Montrose is a seaside town on the east coast of Scotland and

Ali C's latest VLOG from the Steve Peat Group Ride!

If you don't subscribe to Ali Clarkson's YouTube channel, then you might have missed his bonus video from riding with Steve Peat last week. Unfortunately for Ali the weather conditions weren't ideal for filming, and he also managed to smash his GoPro Karma Grip gimble off of his seat just as we started to session the jumps. However, you can still get a taste of the slippery and muddy goodness from the North Third trails! Hit play to check it out. 'til next time... Over and ou

See South Scotland with VisitScotland

Earlier this year I spent a day with Cut Media shooting a segment of the See South Scotland tourism campaign for VisitScotland. It was awesome to be involved and as you can see from in film below, the aim is to showcase some of the fun activities and beautiful locations found in the South of Scotland. The family road trip concept is really cool and Cut have really brought this concept to life. Thinking back, I was definitely one of those kids who gazed out of the car window,

Stirling Trails with Steve Peat!

It's taken nearly 20 years but I finally got to go riding with Steve Peat! Steve shouldn't need any introduction... His World Cup career spans over 20 years where he won 17th World Cup races, 3 overall series titles and 1 World Championships jersey! His World Championships were plagued with bad luck, but he has way more medals than most! Photo Credit Pete Scullion I started riding mountain bikes in 1999 after my brother Dave had taken up the sport. We'd buy MBUK and watch the

An epic day in the mountains!

I've managed to gather some training and racing momentum recently, so I decided to make the most this by of riding my first ever No Fuss Events Tour De Ben Nevis. The Tour De Ben Nevis is a 60km mountain bike lap around trails and tracks which circumnavigate Britain's tallest mountain. The format of the race is similar to an enduro, with riders tackling a variety of stages. The full loop from start to finish counts as a stage too. To determine the final result, a riders finis

A double race weekend - SCX opener and SXC mountain bike finale!

It's been a busy few days that's for sure! Since my fitness test and ride last Thursday with WhatsyourM.E.T.A, I've not had a day off the bike. It's been an awesome block of riding and racing and I'm planning to carry this on for another week or so before I rest up for the Three Peaks Cyclocross. Scottish Cyclocross Series Opener - Isle of Bute The 2018-2019 Scottish Cyclocross season has been shaken up with the national series starting earlier in September and finishing late

Baseline testing with WhatsyourM.E.T.A.

If you follow my social media and Strava, you may have noticed that I've been trying to ride and train with more consistency recently. I'd say it's been over 4 years since I trained. 2014 was a hard year for me - I pushed myself past my limit in the ABSA Cape Epic and I spent a week in ITU in Cape Town recovering from Rhabdomyolysis. Then I had to deal with the reality of not qualifying for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. I'd gambled for over 3 years to try and make what I consi

Scottish XC Champs in Dunoon

For the second time this year I lined up in a Scottish Cross Country race, and this time it was the Scottish Championships. I've really been enjoying getting back riding more consistently - I'm feeling better physically and mentally. I've still quite a long way to go to get back to where I have been in the past, but the more I train the more I feel like that's where I want to be! The last month has been challenging for training with the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, H
